Lemon and Sprouts Hors d'oeuvres with Sharp vegan Cheese

The flavors of this recipe blend for a sharp satisfying bite. Serve at your next party, event, or wedding.


Who loves small bites more than I do? Maybe no one. But I always get disappointed when than service tray passes by and its laden with shrimp, cheese, and bacon. Luckily my local Chabad house always has several vegan options swirling around at their nicest events. Last week, I made these for one of my fancier shabbats for my usual non-vegan guests. I did not make enough! You might want to double or triple my recipe for a more sizeable dinner. I did have ingredients left over. I simply made enough to fill the serving platter.


I find that the strength of this recipe is the combination of the sharp, almost tart, cheese, the refreshing zest of lemon, and watery crisp sprouts. The "buttery" crackers serve as a great base and flavor finish. Let me know what you think.


Also this is a more pricey recipe, so I won't be doing the cost analysis. And I am grateful for the privilege of being able to buy something slightly outside my normal budget.

This recipe takes 10 min of prep time, no cooking and makes 8 hors' d'oeuvres


The supplies needed are: cutting board, knife, The ingredients are; 1 package Osem Golden Cracker (or similar), 1 container of Nuts Bri Cheese, or a very sharp cheddar, 1 Container Broccoli sprouts or similar, 1 Lemon, I Bunch Green Onions (I received these slightly less fresh for free at my health food store The Cornucopia, for free).



Step 1 Open the package of cheese. Cut into small squares. Place on the crackers.




Step 2 cut the lemon into triangle wedges. Place a sprinkling of sprouts on top of the cheese. Add one lemon wedge to each cracker. Cut the green onion into rounds and add to each cracker. Place crackers on a doily lined serving platter. Serve room temp.

  • 1 Package Osem Golden Crackers (or similar)

  • 1 box sprouts

  • 1 Lemon

  • 1 Package Nuts Cheese Vegan Brie or a Vegan Sharp cheddar.

  • 1 Green onion bunch

Directions


  1. Open the package of cheese. Cut into small squares. Place on the crackers.
